About

sgii2.n is a free screen-casting application that creates .mov format quicktime movies at variable frame rate with stereo PCM audio @ 44.1Khz.
Currently only available for Mac OS X - a build for Windows is on the way.

This application was built for the Inclusive Improv Live Coding Project
The default frame rate is 3 fps, which is has proved adequate for live code screen-casts, and keeps file size down in light of the fullscreen resolution being captured.

It is possible to select a smaller area of your screen to grab. The frame rate can be set in integer steps between 1 and 30 - however the internal grab refresh rate has not been linked and is fixed at 5 fps. Also please note that the font settings for the 'opening credits' are currently fixed.

The default text for the 'opening credits' is customizable:

  • → in Finder, 'Show Package Contents' of the sgii2p011.app
  • → within the 'Contents' folder find the file '_credits.txt'
    • edit the first four lines of this file to set the default text

    • When the Countdown reaches zero, the recording will stop.
